You and I, in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful songs from the new album, "Midnight Memories". It’s one of the first songs I remember hearing, and my first impression was that it was quite refreshing. A perfect love song! It starts out with a soft, quiet intro, then as the song goes on, the music builds with the lyrics. I think the tune matches the lyrics very well!
The lyrics are also a big part of what drew me to this song. The lyrics take many sets of opposites and compare them to the relationship between a man and a woman. They emphasize on the fact that people have to fight for what is important to them. If two people truly love each other, no matter what any body says, no matter the differences between them, they will find a way to be together, and this song expresses that very well.
The One Direction boys have always been incredibly talented, and the vocals in this song are no exception. My first impression of the whole album was that it sounded more... grown-up, for lack of a better word. They don't sound like teen-age boys any more, and this song show cases the maturity in their voices coupled with the maturity of the lyrics. Well done, boys!
