Join One Direction for #1D4RND

Hello and welcome to the One Direction Red Nose Day page!

So... you’re probably all wondering just how can you help an amazing cause by being a fan of 1D aren’t you? You are? Well keep reading! If you’ve been following One Direction on Twitter/Facebook/Youtube lately you’ve probably noticed the guys’ involvement in Red Nose Day 2013.

The official Red Nose Day single ‘One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks)’ is out now and has already reached number one in 63 countries – all proceeds going to Comic Relief (which is quite a lot of proceeds considering the previous fact!)

The guys were lucky enough to be taken to Africa to see how Red Nose Day cash changes lives – which has prompted them to take part in a bit of fundraising of their own...

Niall completed a
sponsored silence.

And Harry got busy in the
kitchen making cupcakes!

The guys also auctioned off the clothes they wore in Ghana, raising a massive £11,000 for Red Nose Day – money that will help not only those in Africa, but also those who in need right here in the UK. We’re so grateful to everyone who placed a bid – so thank you!

But it doesn’t stop there...

There's still loads you can do to join the boys in helping support Red Nose Day this year. How about a 1D cake sale, holding a 1D singathon and asking friends to pay to take part - or you could paint your friends with 1D-themed nail art?! Did you know that just £30 could provide meals for 30 families in the UK who are going through hard times and can't afford to buy food? Don't forget to visit rednoseday.com/1D to get a Giving Page or donate and support the boys.

Whatever you get up to – we want to see! Make sure you upload your photos and videos to Tumblr tagging them #1D4RND.

And if you haven’t downloaded ‘One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks)‘on iTunes yet then why not? Remember you can also get your physical CD copy in Sainsbury's - so add it to your shopping list!

Find out more about One Direction’s involvement in Red Nose Day over on 1D page on the Comic Relief site.

What is Red Nose Day?

Red Nose Day is a huge fundraising event organised by UK charity Comic Relief every other year. It originally launched on Christmas Day 1985 aiming to make the public laugh with celebrity sketches and routines while highlighting and raising money for the then crippling famine in Ethiopia. Red Nose Day quickly became a charity telethon bringing together the very best of UK comedy and entertainment for one night of fundraising. The first Red Nose Day in 1988 raised an incredible £15million, and this year Red Nose Day celebrates its 25th anniversary – an amazing achievement!

Since 1988 Red Nose Day has gone from strength to strength raising over £600million to date for those in need in Africa and in the UK, and becoming one of the biggest charity events on the UK calendar. This year's event takes place on Friday 15th March 2013.

1D performing with children in Ghana

The boys were thrilled to visit Africa with Comic Relief - a trip which turned out to be one of the most amazing and eye-opening experiences of their lives. The group visited projects in Ghana helped by money raised for Red Nose Day, and met the people whose lives have been changed as a result. Now the boys are overjoyed to be able to help people with lives similar to those they met in Ghana, by forgoing any royalties due to them in connection with this charity single. Syco will also donate 100% of its profits from the sale of each CD single and download to Comic Relief.
